Krups KM7000 Grind-and-Brew Coffeemaker Review

Krups-km7000 Grind-and-Brew CoffeemakerA number of people have been asking about the Krups KM7000 grind-and-brew coffee maker. Some time ago friends of mine bought one some time ago and they have been very pleased with it. But I thought I would investigate it a bit further and discuss my findings here.

One of the things I have always liked is being able to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Another is being able to use the same coffee maker to brew as few as one or two cups up to at least 8 cups. Well the good news is that on those two fronts the Krups KM7000 scores very well.

A number of reviews I saw for the Krups KM7000 were very positive in this regard and many also commented on the superb coffee it produced. Krups has been around for a long time and they sell the KM7000 coffee make online but I have found that Amazon offer a better price.

Krups KM7000 Coffeemaker Features

The KM7000 boasts a fairly impressive array of features. It has a 1000 watt heating element for rapid brewing. It has a steel conical burr grinder that you can set to any of 5 grind levels. Steam is prevented from reaching the grinder as the brew basket lid closes atomatically after grinding.

The coffee strength can be set to any of 3 strengths. I’ve already mentioned that the Krups KM7000 can brew from 2 to 10 cups. An added feature is that the 2 and 4 cup settings have an “aroma setting” for proper brewing of these smaller quantities. Again, a number of the reviews I read mentioned that they found this feature very handy and that it wasn’t just a gimmick – it did actually make a difference to the flavor of their coffee.

User Feedback

Some people would have preferred a permanent filter rather than having to buy filters online from Krups. However, others commented they were able to use two cheap standard coffee filter papers offset slightly and so didn’t have to purchase the Krups filter papers.

Others mentioned that it put a fine dust of coffee grounds on the bench after grinding. However, comments from other purchasers mentioned that if one read the manual and followed it, they had absolutely no trouble with coffee dust.

While there were also some comments that the unit was unreliable, a number of others mentioned that it was of sturdy construction and heaver than many other grind-and-brew coffee makers. Some had had theirs for 2years or more and one person who had had a Krups KM7000 for over 3 years and bought a new one noted that it had a number of improvements such as a better designed spout on the carafe to allow faster pouring.

The programmable timer has a backlit LCD display so you can easily see it in any light. Being able to program it to come on before you get up is wonderful. However, along with that you need a unit that is quiet – after all there is no point being woken up by a noisy coffee grinder before your coffee is ready to drink! Many people who provided feedback were impressed with how quiet the unit is when grinding the beans and how easy it is to clean. Basically you just clean the removable filter holder.

Probably the most common comment I have seen is that the Krups KM7000 makes great coffee. And, after all, that is what a coffee maker is all about.

If you are after a grind-and-brew coffee maker, the Krups KM7000 is certainly one to consider. It comes with a comprehensive manual which really does have to be read to guarantee you get that perfect cup of coffee. I’d recommend that you take a look at the Krups KM7000 Grind-and-Brew coffeemaker.
