Royal Albert Old Country Roses 9-Piece Teaset
Although originiating in China, having a cup of tea seems to be a very English thing. However, many people around the world in recent years have come to appreciate tea as a fine beverage. When made using real loose leaf tea in a teapot, it provides a relaxing and enjoyable break from the daily hubub.
Of course, tea is best enjoyed in fine bone china tea cups and Royal Albert have been making tea cups and teapots for a very long time. Their Old Countyr Roses pattern is probably the best known design around the world and more than 100 million pieces have been sold since it was first created.
The teaset reviewed here is what is known as a completer tea set. It is for those who already have the Old Country Roses tea set and wish to add more settings. It includes 4 cups and saucers and 1 regal tray. Naturally it is made from fine bone china and features 22 carat gold trim. (With the price of gold these days that has got to be worth something in itself!) Somewhat surprising (to me at least) is that the set is dishwasher safe.
As the cups are tea cups and not mugs they are not huge in size. They are an ideal size for tea which is not meant to be gulped down but rather sipped and enjoyed. The cups are delightful to hold and the price is quite reasonable.
If you already have a Royal Albert Old Country Roses tea set and would like to expand it or simply replace tea cups which may have broken, this is ideal. It mixes and matches perfectly. The only annoyance is that the stickers tend to be placed in random places and have a tenacious adhesive. However, this is quickly forgotten once you sit down to your first cup of tea from them.
This could make an ideal Mother’s Day present.
